Mother Cleared of Murder Charges After 13 Years

February 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Lynn DeJac, 44, was cleared of her second-degree murder conviction after spending 13 years in jail for allegedly strangling her daughter. Although DeJac had been released from jail in November after new evidence placed her former boyfriend, Dennis Donahue, in the room around the time of Crystallynn Girard’s death, it was not until recently that forensic evidence was used to determine Crystallynn’s cause of death as a cocaine overdose.

DeJac, though relieved at her exoneration, disputed the finding that her daughter died from a drug overdose, blaming Donahue for killing Crystallynn. Donahue is currently awaiting trial in the strangulation case of Joan Giambra.

The criminal justice system is not foolproof - sometimes costly mistakes are made and innocent people suffer. If you have been accused of a crime, you deserve a fair trial and legal representation.
