DNA evidence has cleared a man of a conviction for a rape and burglary in Richardson, Texas nearly 23 years after the original crime was committed.

The man was identified as the guilty party after a questionable identification process. DNA evidence shows that he could not possibly have been the man to commit the rape and burglary.

When released, he’ll be the 16th man from Dallas County to be released from jail after DNA evidence has proven innocence. This is the highest count for any county in the United States.

The inmate was selected from a line-up of photographs by the then-19 year-old victim. According to records, she was not given the choice to say how close the picture was to her attacker.
